This Dairy-free Peppermint White Russian recipe is a creamy, festive, and minty cocktail made with coffee liqueur, vodka, coconut cream, almond milk, and peppermint extract.

Peppermint White Russian in two cups.

I have always loved white Russian cocktails, especially dairy-free ones. My dairy-free white Russian and pumpkikn spice white Russian recipes are two of my favorites.

This mint white Russian is also a favorite because it is a festive option for this time of year. They are creamy and rich, thanks to the almond milk and coconut cream combination. They also have a wonderful light coffee and peppermint flavor.

Why this recipe works

  • It is great for those who can’t do dairy or want a lighter white Russian option.
  • It is easy to make and made with only a handful of ingredients.
  • The cocktails are festive and fun!

Recipe ingredients

Ingredients needed to make a peppermint dairy free white russian.
  • Almond milk– make sure you use one that isn’t flavored and doesn’t have added sugar.
  • Coconut creamSavoy Coconut cream is my favorite because it doesn’t have too much of a coconut taste and is very creamy.
  • Vodka– I like to use Grey Goose vodka in my cocktails because it is clean tasting.
  • Coffee liqueur– I use original Kahlua Coffee Liqueur ( which is a mixture of rum and other secret ingredients ). Please note: that while kahlua is dairy-free it is not vegan!
  • Peppermint extract– I like the Nielsen-Massey brand.
  • Optional- candy canes– I like Yum Earth candy canes because they are dye-free, gluten-free, and Vegan.

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Additions/ Substitutions

  • Instead of coconut cream, you can use any non-dairy creamer of your choice.
  • Instead of almond milk, you can use any non-dairy milk of your choice.

Instructions

  • Whisk together all the ingredients in a bowl and pour them into cups over ice!
    • You can do this with a frother, a cocktail shaker or with a whisk.
    • The goal is to have the liquid be of a smooth consistency because coconut cream and almond milk sometimes are a bit clumpy.

Expert tips

  • You can line the rim of your cups with crushed candy canes to make the drink more festive.
    • Crust the candy canes in your food processor or with a hammer and put them into a medium bowl.
    • Then, dunk the rims of your cups into some water and then into the crushed peppermint candy canes.
  • You can put a whole candy cane into your drink as decoration.
  • And lastly, you can add a bit more peppermint extract if you want your white russians to be even more minty.
