These Dairy-free Peppermint White Russians are a festive dairy-free version of my favorite classic White Russian cocktail.

They are creamy and rich, thanks to the almond milk and coconut cream combination. They also have a wonderful light coffee and peppermint flavor.

The hint of mint adds the perfect amount of festive to these drinks, which is ideal this time of year!

White Russians are normally made with vodka, coffee liqueur, and heavy cream.

They are delicious but for those who can’t do dairy, or who want a lighter option, these Dairy-free Peppermint White Russians are a great alternative.

Ingredients needed to make this Dairy-free Peppermint White Russian:

  • almond milk
  • coconut cream
  • vodka
  • coffee liqueur
  • peppermint extract
  • optional- candy canes

I used original Kahlua Coffee Liqueur ( which is a mixture of rum and other secret ingredients ).

Please note: that while kahlua is dairy-free it is not vegan!

I also used Grey Goose vodka, Elmhurst Almond milk, and Savoy Coconut cream.

When it comes to the coconut cream you use in this recipe, make sure you like the taste of yours because it will make a difference in the recipe.

How to make these Dairy-free Peppermint White Russians:

It’s really easy, to be honest.

You whisk together all the ingredients in a bowl and pour them into cups over ice!

You need to whisk the ingredients to get the almond milk and coconut cream to be the right consistency.

You can even use a manual frother to do this.

The goal is to have the liquid be of a smooth consistency because coconut cream and almond milk sometimes are a bit clumpy.

How to make these Dairy-free Peppermint White Russians more festive:

For starters, you can line the outer rim of your cups with crushed candy canes!

These Wholesome brand candy canes are my favorite. And they are gluten-free, dairy-free and made without synthetic colors.

All you have to do to is crush two of them in a food processor and put them into a bowl.

Then, dunk the rims of your cups into some water and then into the crushed peppermint candy canes.

You can even put a whole candy cane into your drink as decoration.

And lastly, you can add a bit more peppermint extract if you want your white russians to be even more minty.

How to make these White Russians Vegan

To make these White Russians Vegan, don’t use Kahlua.

The official Kahlua website was updated in June of 2020 with information saying that their original Kahlua is not vegan. You can read more about it in this Barnivore article.

You can make your own coffee liqueur.
