Chia Chocolate Cherry Banana Smoothie (Paleo)
Chia Chocolate Cherry Banana Smoothie recipe. A nutrient dense delicious smoothie that can be eaten any time of day!
Oh hey there new breakfast best-friend! Ya, I’m talking to this Chia Chocolate Cherry Banana Smoothie.
This rich, chocolatey, cherry-centric smoothie loaded with chia seeds, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, frozen strawberries, frozen banana, fresh cherries, and a splash of almond milk and maple syrup.
It’s hard to tell whether this dairy-free, naturally Paleo smoothie is a dessert or just a fabulous vitamin C-filled breakfast smoothie (or anytime of the day smoothie), which is not a problem in my book.
FYI- one serving of this smoothie contains 80% of your daily recommended value of vitamin C.
How wonderful is cherry season?! Does anyone else look forward to it all year long??
Cherries are one of my all time favorite fruits and I absolutely love love mixing it with chocolate flavors.
So when I saw a lonely frozen banana in the freezer, and a bag full of deep red cherries in the fridge, I knew what I had to do…

How to make this Chia Chocolate Cherry Banana Smoothie:
It’s so so easy to put together, that it may become part of your regular breakfast (or dessert) routine.
All you have to do it put 1 frozen banana, ½ cup of pitted fresh cherries, 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup almond milk, 1/2 Tbs maple syrup, 1 Tbs chia seeds, 1 Tbs cocoa powder, and 1 Tbs enjoy life chocolate chips into a blender and mix.
That’s it! And you have this delicious cherry chocolate smoothie ( those are the only two flavors I can taste, despite everything else inside) all to yourself!
I used fresh cherries here because I find the flavors to be more powerful than frozen ones. I also think using a frozen banana is key because it really adds a nice creaminess to the smoothie, which works so well with the flavor of chocolate. YUMM.

Oh wow, I’m so sorry to hear about your illness! I just got over bronchitis (I get it every six months, give or take) and it lingers forever, but I can’t imagine having to deal with that all the time. I wish you a speedy recovery! And what a yummy smoothie recipe – can’t wait to give it a try.
Thanks so much Amy! It is quite annoying, but I feel like it’s slowly getting better now that I haven’t worked out for a few weeks. Fingers crossed I can jump back into working out like normal once the pain goes away!
