Why this recipe works:

  • Two words: bacon wrapped. Anything wrapped in bacon is delicious in my book.
  • This recipe is made with a handful of simple real-food ingredients that comes together quickly.
  • Chicken is a great source of protein.
  • It is versatile and can be a meal, appetizer or snack.
  • It is Paleo, Whole30, dairy-free and gluten-free.

Recipe ingredients:

Ingredients needed to make bacon wrapped chicken tenders.
  • Bacon– ideally a brand without added sugar or nitrates.
  • Chicken tenders– these are smaller in size. If you buy chicken breast, you can cut it yourself.
  • Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, chili flakes– these herbs and spices season the chicken here.

Dietary tips:

  • If you are following a Paleo, Keto, or Whole30 diet: be sure to use bacon without any added sugars or nitrates.  I like Pederson’s farms Whole30 bacon.
  • If you are following a gluten-free or grain-free diet: make sure your spices don’t have any cross contamination with gluten.

Recipe variations:

  1. Using smoked bacon instead of regular bacon
  2. Using turkey bacon
  3. Adding coconut sugar to the seasoning
  4. Adding maple syrup on top of the bacon prior to bacon
  5. Cutting the chicken into bite sized pieces prior to wrapping in bacon to make bite sized pieces.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix all of the seasoning/spices. Rub the seasoning on the chicken.
  • Wrap each chicken tender with the strips of bacon (that have been sliced in half longways). I ended up using 1.5 pieces of bacon per chicken tender. Try to tuck the ends of the bacon under each chicken tender.
  • Bake for 35 minutes, or until bacon is crispy. Broil for 1-2 minutes.
  • Note: At the 20 minute mark, use a paper towel to absorb some of the bacon fat and throw it away.

  1. That chicken was really good !

I took only 20 minutes for mine to be ready + 2 min. at Low Broil

    Thanks !5 stars

  2. I throw in about a good rounded tablespoon of  brown sugar with seasoning and then sprinkle some on top after i season the tops. I also put a strip of fresh seeded jalapeño before wrapping the bacon. Or you can slide it under bacon after you’ve wrapped the tenders. It is wonderful.

  3. By far one of my kids favorite and the neighbor kids favorite- they were fighting over the chicken which has NEVER happened before!!! They said to put this in the weekly rotation – again – NEVER happened before with chicken. Thank you!!!! I loved it too!5 stars
