These healthy chicken burger patties are juicy, flavorful, and delicious burgers made using ground chicken, almond flour, and a handful of other simple ingredients. They are high in protein and come together in less than 20 minutes.

3 healthy burger patties stacked on top of each other.

I have been loving making this burger recipe because you can eat these chicken patties in so many ways! You can eat them sandwiched between a burger bun, on top of a salad, in a salad wrap, or on their own paired with a side of grilled asparagus, dairy-free Mexican street corn, and other veggies.

These burgers are great for lunch, dinner, or meal-prep. They are naturally high protein, gluten-free and dairy-free.

What makes this recipe great

  • You only need 8 ingredients to make this chicken patty recipe.
  • These burgers are delicious! They are juicy on the inside and a bit crispy on the outside.
  • Chicken burgers are a great alternative to beef burgers.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free. They are also Whole30 compliant and Paleo.

Recipe ingredients

  • Ground chicken– use a good quality ground chicken for this recipe. Don’t use low fat ground chicken, or they will be too dry. I use an 8% fat ground chicken in this recipe.
  • Almond flour– this is used as a bread crumb replacement and works well here.
  • Fresh garlic– using fresh garlic adds good flavor to the meat.
  • Onion powder– I prefer using onion powder instead of having chunks of onion in my burgers. You get great flavor as well.
  • Dried oregano– this adds flavor without being overwhelming.
  • Egg– the egg binds the burgers together in this recipe.
  • Salt and pepper– use these seasonings to taste.

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Additions/ Substitutions

  • Instead of almond flour, you can use cashew flour, macadamia flour, oat flour or bread crumbs.
  • Instead of fresh garlic, you could use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • You could add chili flakes or chili powder to add spice to these burgers.
  • You could use turkey instead of chicken. Try this best turkey burger recipe by Killing Thyme for a turkey option.

Expert tips

  • How to store these chicken burgers: store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
  • How to serve them: serve them sandwiched between burger buns, surrounded by lettuce wraps, on top of a salad, or by themselves. Serve them with a side of fries, veggies, and a side salad.
  • What sauces to eat with them: these chicken burgers taste great with ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, and buffalo chicken sauce.
  • Use a garlic press to crush the garlic. This gets the garlic to blend well into the chicken burger mixture.

  1. I live in Australia so we don’t use pounds to buy chicken. And I have a suspicion that if you converted your currency to dollars the amount of chicken might change.

    1. I added the ability to switch to metric system in the recipe. Just click the toggle under the ingredients in the recipe box.
