Gluten free edible cookie dough in a bowl.

I’m officially addicted to this edible chocolate chip cookie dough! It’s my favorite, safe-to-eat, clean, creamy cookie dough! It is made with healthier ingredients like almond flour, tapioca flour, maple sugar, and olive oil.

Plus, they can actually be made into cookies. But, honestly, I’m just here for the cookie dough. If you do want to make some healthier cookies, try my Olive Oil Chocolate Chip Cookies or my Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Why this recipe works

  • You can eat as much eggless chocolate chip cookie dough as you want without worrying about getting sick from raw eggs.
  • This recipe is made with healthier ingredients than your average cookie dough.
  • This recipe is great for those following a Vegan, Gluten-free or Paleo diet.
  • This recipe is allergy friendly. It is dairy-free, grain-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and peanut-free.
  • You can also make cookies with it!

Recipe ingredients

Ingredients needed to make Gluten Free Edible Cookie Dough.
  • Light olive oil– this is a great butter replacement for this cookie dough recipe. Olive oil is great for you and the flavor does not take over if you use a light olive oil.
  • Maple sugar– maple sugar is a great alternative to other processed sugars on the market. If you don’t have that, y ( coconut sugar or brown sugar)
  • Vanilla– this adds a nice hint of flavor to the dough. You can use vanilla extract both with or without alcohol in it.
  • Apple sauce– this is a great addition to the dough and replaces some of the fat content.
  • Almond flour– this is used to replace regular white flour, for a gluten-free, Paleo option.
  • Tapioca flour– this combines well with almond flour for gluten-free recipes.
  • Coconut flour– this is also a great gluten-free flour option.
  • Chocolate Chips– I like using Enjoy LifeTrader Joes, or Hu chocolate because they are all dairy-free and gluten-free. Hu chocolate is Paleo.

Additions/ Substitutions

  • Instead of maple sugar, you can use coconut sugar or brown sugar. Brown sugar is Vegan, but it is not Paleo.
  • If you want to turn some of the cookie dough into cookies, add baking soda. You can eat half the cookie dough and bake the other half.
  • Instead of tapioca flour, you can use arrowroot powder.

Expert tips

  • If you are only making this recipe to have edible cookie dough, do not add the baking soda.
  • If you are interested in also making cookies, make sure to add baking soda. You can eat the cookie dough with the baking soda in it.
    • If you do make cookies, make sure they are small in size. They work best when you roll walnut sized balls of the dough and place them onto the cookie sheet.
  • Maple sugar really adds a wonderful flavor to the cookie dough, I highly recommend it. I always have a 5 lb box of it in my pantry.

Gluten free edible cookie dough in a bowl.
Delicious safe-to-eat (no eggs), dairy-free, creamy cookie dough recipe. Made without any preservatives or chemicals and with clean ingredients. Naturally Paleo, Gluten-free, and Vegan.

Ingredients

Instructions

Cookie Dough Instructions:

  • Put the olive oil and maple sugar into a microwave safe bowl and mix with a fork. Then, heat in the microwave for 30 seconds and mix again. Add the vanilla and applesauce and mix with a fork until smooth. Make sure there are no clumps, or as little clumps of sugar as possible.
  • In another bowl, mix the almond flour, tapioca flour, coconut flour, salt, and baking soda ( if using the dough to bake cookies ).
  • Then, pour the flour mixture into the wet sugar mixture and mix. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Let the cookie dough sit for 5 minutes so it can thicken.
  • You can either eat the cookie dough as is, or bake it into cookies ( or both!). This recipe yields 2 cups of cookie dough or 24 cookies.
  • Store the cookie dough in an airtight container.

Vegan Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies Instructions:

  • To bake cookies using this dough, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cover a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat ( or parchment paper).
  • Roll the dough into walnut sized balls, and place them onto the cookie sheet. Cook for 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 2 minutes, then let them cool further on a cookie rack.
  • The cookies will be a bit crispy yet chewy. They are delicate so make sure not to make them too big, and be careful when using the spatula to get them off the cookie sheet.

Notes

  • Instead of maple sugar, you can use coconut sugar or brown sugar. Brown sugar is Vegan, but it is not Paleo.
  • If you want to turn some of the cookie dough into cookies, add baking soda. You can eat half the cookie dough and bake the other half.
  • Instead of tapioca flour, you can use arrowroot powder.
