I’ve been to a few Christmas markets recently and one of my favorite things about them is the smell of mulled wine! I also love the mulled wine. 🙂 Warm mugs of hot red wine full of winter spices just feels so wintery and Christmasy. I just love all things wintery right now! Like cranberries.

I’ve been experimenting a lot with this sour fruit this season (as you will soon see), and have found many ways to enjoy them. This recipe is no exception… it’s a tweaked version of regular cranberry sauce that reminded me so much of mulled wine that I had to call it Mulled Cranberry Sauce.Mulled Cranberry Sauce (paleo, GF) | Perchance to Cook, www.perchancetocook.com

It’s really simple. All you do is put cranberries, strawberries, the sections of an orange (peeled and without any skin on it), orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, whole cloves, and honey into a pan and heat it over medium heat.

45 minutes later, a delicious all natural cranberry sauce will be ready to be eaten at your heart’s desire.

And during this time your house will smell like the holidays and/or mulled wine. It’s a win, win.

I actually like this Mulled Cranberry Sauce better than mulled wine… but it could be because I prefer eating more than drinking. 🙂

This sauce was great on Paleo muffins, and paired with a wide variety of meats, baked desserts, or on it’s own.

Yumm!
