I’m a huge fan of making (and eating) fresh banana bread all year long. And during the holidays, I love adding orange zest and cranberries to it to make it extra flavorful and festive.

This cranberry orange banana bread is bursting with juicy fresh cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon and banana flavor. It’s a must for this time of year.

One of my favorite holiday banana bread recipes:

As I mentioned, I love eating banana bread all year long. And when fresh cranberries are in season, I love adding orange zest and cranberries to my banana bread, which is exactly what I did in this healthy cranberry banana bread recipe.

Cranberries, orange and cinnamon instantly add a festive feeling to this banana bread and it makes me want to eat it around the holidays.

I find that you can tweak banana bread recipes to fit any season or holiday.

During the fall, I love adding pumpkin to my banana bread, like in my Pumpkin Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread recipe.

In the Spring, and around Easter, I like adding carrots, like in my Carrot Cake Banana Bread recipe.

Or you could even add fun ingredients like espresso and chocolate like in my Espresso Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.

How to make it:

  • In one bowl, you mix together the olive oil and coconut sugar until it’s all mixed together. Then you add the eggs, vanilla, mashed bananas and mix again.
  • Then in another bowl, you mix the almond flour, tapioca flour, coconut flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon together with a fork.
  • Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix.
  • Fold in the cranberries. Pour the batter into a ban and bake.

I was tempted to make an orange frosting for this recipe but then decided not to. I like eating banana bread over the course of a few days and I don’t like how frosting can make it soggy.

Though if you do want to make a frosting, you could mix together powdered sugar with orange juice and orange zest and it would taste delish!

FAQs:

Is there any alternative to almond flour here?

I haven’t tested any alternatives so I can’t say for sure, but I’ve heard thatsunflower seed flour or other nut flours can work in it’s place.

What kind of oil can be used in this recipe?

I love using extra light olive oil but you can also use avocado oil or any other light tasting oil.

What kind of sugar can you use?

You can use coconut sugar or maple sugar. If you want you could use brown sugar but then the recipe won’t be Paleo.

Can I use orange juice from the store?

Yes you can. I just like using fresh orange juice from the same orange that I got the zest from.
