This Dragon Fruit Powder Mango Berry Smoothie has quickly become a family favorite; one that my toddler asks for often.

And whenever she asks for a vitamin and antioxidant filled recipe, I happily oblige. The easier it is to add fruits into all of our diets, the better.

Especially when it is as delicious as this dragon fruit powder smoothie.

What is Dragon fruit / Pitaya ?

Dragon fruit, also called pitaya, is the fruit of a Hylocereus cactus. The outside is usually bright red and the inside can be white or bright pink.

It has become pretty popular recently due to it’s ability to make drinks and foods very bright pink in color and because it is a nutrient-dense food.

What are the health benefits of Dragon fruit?

Dragon fruit is said to help boost the immune system, improve metabolism, and aid with digestion.

It is high in vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds that have been linked to reducing cancer risk.

The high level of vitamin C helps to boost the immune system. And the high level of fiber helps with digestion. Dragon fruit also contains prebiotics, which promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut.

Because of the health benefits, I love incorporating dragon fruit powder recipes into my diet.

Ingredients needed:

  • frozen mango
  • frozen wild blueberries
  • frozen strawberries
  • dragon fruit powder
  • orange
  • almond milk (or any non-dairy milk of your choice)

I also love adding raw oranges to smoothies because it adds a nice texture change compared to the rest of the frozen fruit.

I also like using wild blueberries instead of regular blueberries because they have more flavor and vitamins. I find mine in the freezer section of Trader Joes.

How to make dragon fruit smoothie:

Making the smoothie is incredibly easy!

All you have to do is put all of your ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.

This means you need to add frozen mango, frozen wild blueberries, frozen strawberries, dragon fruit powder, a raw peeled orange, and almond milk to the blender.

Note: if you want your smoothie to be more liquidy then add more almond milk.

My daughter asking for more smoothie while I’m trying to take photographs of it!

My dragon fruit powder is from Ellie’s Best. I’ve used some of their products before and have always been happy with them. It gives my smoothies a great color in a natural way, and a boost of nutrition.

**Side note: I have paired up with Ellie’s Best to give you guys 10% off your whole order if you use the code “perchancetocook” at checkout. I love their nutmilk bags and have been loving their pitaya powder as well.

And lastly, I always use almond milk in my smoothies. It’s a great source of protein.
