This strawberry sweet tea is an amazing sweet tea recipe that is naturally sweetened with honey, and has fresh strawberry juice inside. It is basically sweet tea but kicked up a notch with strawberry flavor. I could drink it every single day, especially in the hot summer heat.

Why this recipe works

  • This recipe is based off a southern strawberry sweet tea recipe that I used to drink back when I lived in Texas.
  • It is made with 4 ingredients.
  • It is easy to make and is a crowd pleaser.
  • It is a fun twist on iced tea.
  • It is perfect for summer!

Recipe ingredients

Strawberry sweet tea ingredients needed.
  • Water– you will need some boiling hot water and some cold water in this recipe.
  • Strawberries– fresh strawberries are juiced to add the strawberry flavor here.
  • Tea bags– the black tea of your choice works here. You can use regular tea bags or iced tea bags.
  • Honey– I like using raw organic honey but you can use any kind of honey here.

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Additions/ Substitutions

  • Instead of honey, you can use maple syrup.
  • Instead of fresh strawberries, you can buy strawberry juice.

Equipment needed

You will need a juicer to juice your strawberries. I have used this Waring Pro juicer for years! I like it because it isn’t delicate and you can just put everything into the dishwasher to clean it.

I juiced a 16 ounce pack of strawberries to make approximately 1 cup of strawberry juice.

Expert tips

  • You will use a different amount of tea bags depending on what kind you use.
    • If you are using regular black tea bags, use 6 of them.
    • If you are using iced tea bags, follow the instructions on the box. For Luzianne iced tea bags, you only need 2 of them.
  • Add sliced strawberries to the pitcher to make it pretty.
  • Add more honey to make it sweeter or less honey to make it less sweet.

Recipe FAQs

What can I do if I don’t have a juicer.

You can put your strawberries into a blender or food processor and mix them. Then, strain the mixture to separate the juice from the pulp of the fruit. Use the juice that has been strained out.

Can you use regular tea bags or do you have to use iced tea bags.

You can use either one. If you use regular black tea bags, use 6 bags. If you use iced tea bags, use 2.

How do you store this tea?

In a pitcher with a cover in the fridge for 4-5 days.

Strawberry Sweet Tea in mason jars with straws in them.
A simple, refreshing and delicious iced tea recipe made from water, tea bags, honey, and strawberries.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 6 black tea bags, (or 2 Luzianne iced tea bags)
  • 1 cup strawberry juice, ( this was from juicing 16 ounces of strawberries using a juicer)
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • optional- sliced strawberries to add to the iced tea

Instructions

  • Put boiling water into a large pitcher and add tea bags. Let the bags steep for 10 minutes, then remove them. Then add the honey to the hot water and mix.
  • Pour the strawberry juice into the tea, then add 3 cups of cold water, and mix.
  • At this point, this recipe yields a little less than 2 quarts of iced tea, without ice in it. You can refrigerate this in the fridge for several hours before serving in cups filled with ice. OR add desired amount of ice to the pitcher and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Instead of honey, you can use maple syrup.
  • Instead of fresh strawberries, you can buy strawberry juice.
