Making chocolate lollipops from home is easier than you think! Not only are they beautiful and delicious, but they come together quickly and are easy to customize to your tastes.

This recipe was inspired by chocolate lollipops that I ate in Bordeaux when I lived there. They had dried kiwi and dried strawberries on them, and they were just delicious. I decided to recreate them at home and so this recipe was born. If you love chocolate and fruit together, try my Chocolate Covered Pumpkin Stuffed Dates or Fall Chocolate Bark.

Recipe ingredients

Ingredients needed to make chocolate lollipops.
  • Chocolate chips– dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, dairy-free chocolate all work here. Enjoy life chocolate chips are dairy-free and gluten-free, HU chocolate chips are Paleo.
  • Dried fruit-I found that raisins, apricots, and figs tasted really good with the chocolate. Freeze dried fruits work amazing as well. Freeze dried strawberries were taste amazing here as well.
  • Nuts– almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts all work here.

Expert tips

  • I like to melt the chocolate in these awesome silicone mixing bowls. They bend, which makes it really easy to pour the chocolate without a mess.
  • Make sure not to burn your chocolate as you melt it, otherwise it will be become hard and difficult to manage. That is why it is important to heat the chocolate up slowly. That is why I only heat the chocolate in 30 second batches in the microwave.

Dried Fruit and Chocolate Lollipops on a napkin.
These chocolate lollipops are a delicious and beautiful chocolate treat full of the dried fruit, freeze dried fruit, and nuts of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp melted coconut oil, or olive oil
  • Dried fruit or freeze dried fruit of your choice, raisins, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, dried figs, almonds, freeze dried strawberries etc

Instructions

  • In a microwave safe bowl, mix the chocolate chips with your oil. Put the bowl into the microwave for 30 seconds, then mix everything around. Heat for another 30 seconds, mix everything around again. If the chocolate isn't completely melted at this point, heat for another 20-30 seconds and mix. Set the melted chocolate aside.
  • Arrange the dried fruit in the pattern of your choice, in the chocolate candy molds, put the lollipop sticks into the mold, then top the individual chocolate molds with chocolate until the mold is full. ( If you want to make the chocolate easier to pour, heat it in the microwave for 15 extra seconds). Smooth out with a knife if you need to.
  • Top the chocolate filled molds with dried fruit to make double sided lollipops, again arrange the dried fruit in the pattern of your choice.
  • Put the mold into the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Lift the lollipop sticks upward, and the chocolate lollipops should pop out of the mold easily.

Notes

  • I like to melt the chocolate in these awesome silicone mixing bowls. They bend, which makes it really easy to pour the chocolate without a mess.
  • Make sure not to burn your chocolate as you melt it, otherwise it will be become hard and difficult to manage. That is why it is important to heat the chocolate up slowly. That is why I only heat the chocolate in 30 second batches in the microwave.

  1. This look absolutely delicious! Thank you for the elaborate recipe and the pictures too. I look forward to trying to make these!

The point of the Paleo diet is, and I feel some people forget this, to not only diet, but to eat delicious foods at the same time. It’s the only diet I’ve come across that cuts out food groups, yet still focusses on everyone’s need to eat great food.

I’m a real foodie, and would not survive on any other diet, but Paleo has been very good for me. I’m reviewing paleo cookbooks you might be interested in at the moment on my site

    1. I totally agree with you Katie! A lot of people think Paleo is boring and restrictive, but it doesn’t have to be! 🙂 I’ll check out your cookbooks!
